Helping people become passionate, selfless followers of Christ

From Our PastorA Word from Pastor West
![]() There is no Pastor who can say just a WORD, but I do realize that your time is precious, and you are reading this to learn a little about Colonial and little about me…so I’ll get right to it!
Colonial in a nutshell…
Colonial is not a perfect organization full of self-righteous, “perfect” people. We are a gathering of diverse people that share a common hope in Christ. We believe God’s Word and we pray about everything! We serve our community in the name of Christ. We laugh often, we tell stories, we share life together in groups, we love on our kids a lot, and we care for those who can’t care for themselves. We are obsessed with missions to the point of partnering with missionaries and missional organizations on every continent! We have multiple worship styles, but one worship philosophy: we worship in Spirit and in Truth. You’ll have to come and see what that means because I don’t think I can explain it! I encourage you to surf around our site (still in the process of getting upgraded and updated!) to learn more about who we are and what we are about at Colonial.
More than you cared to know about me…
I came to Colonial in March of 2008. I’m 40 years old and married to the finest woman I’ve ever known, Christy. We’ve been married for 16 years and we have three boys: Levi, Jonah, and Caleb.
I’m a graduate of Wake Forest University (met Christy there…GO DEACS) and Princeton Theological Seminary.
Prior to my arrival in KC, I served churches in North Carolina and South Carolina, so I’m currently in saltwater withdrawal syndrome. I love to fish, golf, play guitar and sing Southern Gospel music!
A little about what makes me tick…
God’s love and purpose give me peace; my hope is in the life, death, and resurrection of Christ; and my passion is to join God’s redemptive efforts to save the world, one relationship at a time. I’m infected with a love for Christ’s church. My heart was torn and remains partly in Nairobi, Kenya, where I encountered the Risen Lord in the most surprising and difficult places. I desperately desire to leverage prayers and resources to make an impact in such settings. I dream of a day when believers will transcend denominational, theological, ecclesiological, geographical, racial, and socio-economic barriers for the sake of sharing hope, feeding the poor, combating injustice, curing AIDS, creating jobs, encouraging the young, caring for the old, reclaiming our environment, and discovering the joy of Christ in a deeply connected and unselfish way. We’re not there yet…but God isn’t finished with me, or you, or them…so there is hope!
Enough about me, what about you?
So what’s your story? What led you to tolerate this article up to this point? How is God dealing with you? Are you aware of the presence of a loving God who is FOR YOU and not against you? Are you new in town? How can I and/or Colonial serve you in the name of Christ? How can we pray for you? Yes, I’m prying, but it’s only because I care…we care…HE CARES!

Thanks for your cyber-visit to Colonial. I hope we will see you Sunday!
