Welcome to
Colonial Student Ministries!
The vision of CSM is to be a discipling community, inwardly strong and outwardly focused, where God's power is changing students' lives now and for eternity.
We plan to accomplish this vision through the following Strategic Mission:
Encounter: God
“Their eyes were opened and they recognized him...They asked each other, ‘Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?’“ Luke 24:31-32
>We hope students come to faith in Jesus Christ and grow in desire for relationship with Him.
>We hope to create an atmosphere in which students can encounter God for themselves.
Equip: Discipleship
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20
>We hope to train up students to become faithful followers of our Lord Jesus through intentional relationships and teaching.
>We hope to equip students with all they need to “Be one, make one” - be a disciple themselves and make more disciples.
Engage: Heart
“In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.” John 1:4-5
“You are the light of the world.” Matthew 5:14
>We hope to give students opportunities for their head knowledge of the Lord to become heart knowledge.
>We hope to give students opportunities to engage with culture and the world—beginning with their own communities and extending out to the whole world.
Extend: Out
“Again Jesus said, ‘Simon son of John, do you truly love me?’ He answered, ‘Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.’ Jesus said, ‘Take care of my sheep.’” John 21:16
“If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:1-4
>We hope that every student would feel a part of the BIG student ministry as a whole, be connected in a SMALL group of peers that care and love them, and make ONE strong, personal friendship.
>We hope that students will reach out to their friends with the love of Jesus.
The specific programatic elements and times which they run will vary among each ministry quadrant (Middle School vs High School/ Wornall vs Quivira), but the main thrust of our ministry as a whole is currently Life Groups.
