From Our Pastor

A Word from Pastor West
Thanks for taking a minute to explore Colonial. I’m very much aware that “church shopping” for many people begins online, so this may be my first and only opportunity to engage you in a quick conversation about Jesus.
Here at Colonial, we believe Jesus is exactly who He claimed to be: the Son of God, the long-awaited Messiah, the Forgiver of Sins, and our Friend. We believe Christ arose from the dead on the third day because the evidence is compelling, and we believe Christ is the only hope we have of being forgiven and entering into heaven when we die.
Christ is the center of our lives around here, and we would value the opportunity to show you what that looks like for us. It is our mission to passionately and selflessly follow Christ, and to equip others to do the same.
We also believe the Bible is true…we think of it as God’s Word…and we do everything we can to submit ourselves to the Bible’s teaching and objective authority in all matters of faith and practice.
I’m currently teaching through the entire Gospel of Luke. I invite you to check out a sermon video/audio/pdf on our website to get a taste for how the Gospel is taught in our church.

If you have further questions about our beliefs, I encourage you to read the Essentials of Faith that construct the core theological components of our church and our denomination, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
By the way, if you’re wondering what it means to be “Presbyterian,” I can answer that question very quickly for you. “Presbyterian” comes from the Greek word “presbyteros” meaning “elder.” To be in a Presbyterian church is to be in a church that is led by elders. We have 15 lay elders and 5 pastors/elders. That’s it…pretty straight forward.
Please forgive the indulgent picture of my kids…I couldn’t help it. My wife, Christy, and I have given up trying to be in the family pictures…it’s just too chaotic, you know?

So...my invite to you is threefold:
1.
Surf around…check out what’s happening with our kids ministries, worship times, missions, NEXT STEPS, etc. This place is hoppin’ all week long. |
| |
2.
Drop in and visit. If you drop us a line ahead of time, we’ll be happy to meet you and give you the royal welcome…or, just slide in under the radar…your call. |
| |
3.
Tell us how we can pray for you. My promise is that we will actually pray for you (pastors, prayer intercessors…lots of people), and we believe God hears our prayers of intercession. So tell us as much or as little as you wish, and know that you will be lifted up in prayer this week. |

Again, thanks for dropping in. Hope to see you Sunday.
Peace,
Jim
